German Roaches vs. Palmetto Bugs. Know the Difference
In Florida, "roach" usually means one of two very different problems. Understanding which species you're dealing with is critical because treatment approaches differ dramatically.
German Roaches are small (about ½ inch), light brown, and live exclusively indoors. They prefer kitchens and bathrooms, reproduce extremely fast, and are notoriously difficult to eliminate. A single German roach infestation can grow to thousands of insects within weeks. They're a serious health code violation in food service environments.
Palmetto Bugs (American Cockroaches) are large (1.5–2 inches), reddish-brown, and primarily live outdoors, entering homes through drains, gaps, and doorways. They're Florida's most common roach and, while alarming, easier to control than German roaches.
Why Over-the-Counter Products Fail
Roach sprays and bombs from hardware stores rarely solve the problem. German roaches hide deep in cracks, behind appliances, and inside wall voids, areas sprays don't reach. Worse, repellent sprays scatter roaches into new areas, spreading the infestation. Professional gel baits, targeted void treatments, and growth regulators are what actually work.
Our Roach Elimination Process
Species Identification & Assessment
We identify the species, locate harborage areas, and assess the severity of the infestation.
Targeted Treatment
Professional gel baits, insect growth regulators, and void treatments applied to harborage areas, not just surfaces.
Exclusion
Seal entry points around pipes, drains, and gaps to prevent re-entry from the exterior.
Follow-Up
German roach infestations require follow-up treatments. We schedule return visits to confirm complete elimination.
Commercial Roach Control
Roaches in a restaurant, hotel, or food service facility mean failed health inspections and damaged reputation. We provide commercial roach control programs for restaurants, hotels, resorts, healthcare facilities, and warehouses across Central Florida, with full service documentation.
